"Virus" established the involvement of U.S. intelligence agencies to cyber attacks


Employees of "Kaspersky Lab" has found a unique way of cyber-espionage through the integration of spyware in hard drives from Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba and other leading manufacturers. According to Reuters with reference to the text of the research "Kaspersky Lab", these programs allowed us to intercept messages from computers around the world.

"Kaspersky lab" discovered the contamination such spyware programs in 30 countries, including Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Syria, and Yemen. The hackers put hacked computers in government and military institutions telecommunication companies banks energy companies nuclear research firms, and media organizations.Experts, analyzing methods of cyber attacks has set them in close connection with espionage program to Stuxnet, was developed in order for NSA to target Iran's nuclear program.

Another former employee of the security Agency confirmed that the NSA had developed a way of embedding spyware in hard drives.The researchers "virus" stated that the developers of espionage services was able to develop modules that allow you to reprogram the firmware of hard drives, and thus to commit serious technological achievement. According to experts of the anti-virus, computer infection was quite deep and allowed hackers to control it even after reinstalling operating system.

Reuters notes that Western Digital, Seagate and Micron don't know about these spyware programs. Toshiba and Samsung have left the results of the study without comment.
