Tatar representatives have come out in support of the incoming regime

SIMFEROPOL, February 26 (RIA Novosti) – Scuffles broke out Wednesday in the southern Ukrainian city of Simferopol as large crowds of opponents of the newly installed national authorities faced off against representatives of the Crimean Tatar community outside the local parliament.
The rise to power of a group of politicians whose bulk of support is drawn from the more nationalist-leaning Western Ukraine has ignited alarm among ethnic Russians in the south and east of the country.

no EU funs for Crimea - "Eastern regions of Ukraine unacceptable current parliamentary decisions

"Eastern regions of Ukraine unacceptable current parliamentary decisions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=MyQeXpcXIFI
Eastern regions of Ukraine 's leaders , who have remained loyal to President Viktor Yanukovich, challenging the legitimacy of the national parliament and claims sovereignty over their territories, reports Reuters. Over the past 24 hours the Verkhovna Rada adopted a number of laws that limit presidential powers and opens the way for a unity government and early presidential elections.

"We are not going to split the country . We want to save it , " - said Mikhail Dobkinas , Kharkov region governor , regional leaders meeting in Kharkov on Saturday.

However, the resolution adopted at the meeting , stated that "the decisions of the Ukrainian parliament in such circumstances raises doubts as to their ( ... ) legality .

The resolution also states that " the main body in the country paralyzed . While the legitimacy of the constitutional order and will not restore ( ... ), we decided to take responsibility for the constitutional order, legality , civil rights and the safety of your storage areas .
This conference had a participation of some 3000 deputies and representatives of the authorities; mostly those from the Lugansk, Donetsk, Kharkov and Crimean regions. There were also representatives from Dnepropetrovsk and probably other Eastern regions too.

Representatives from the Russian government and in particular Russian regions were there too; among them:

Duma committee head for international affairs Alexey Pushkov,
Consul of the Russian Federation in Kharkov
A senator from the Pskov region
Governors of the Bryansk, Belgorod, Rostov and Voronezh regions.

In addition to that, some +10,000 people gathered outside and all the proceedings inside the conference were transmitted to them via the video billboard that this video was filmed off.
A +30,000 Euro-Maidan march was taking place in Kharkov at the same time, not too far away (can't confirm these figures though, could have been less of them)

Much was said:

- In Kiev it wasn't the state that was taken over, but territory
- Mobs and armed extremists took over the organs of state power in Kiev
- This conference is not for the division of the Ukraine, but for it's salvation
- Ukrainian SBU (intelligence) attempted to call this conference as evidence of illegal separatist activities, before it even began and anything was said at all
- Kutuzov may have given up Moscow, but he marched into Paris later
- Something about the nazis and our grandfathers during WW2, etc... etc...
- Gennady Kernes; mayor of Kharkov: "I'm not afraid of threats, and I will stay at my workplace" (reports say he took the first plane to Russia along with Kharkov's governor as soon as this conference ended Shocked)

Right at the end all participants of the conference unanimously approved a resolution, calling for Eastern regions to take all local power into their own hands and institute self-rule (effectively ignoring the 'new government' in Kiev) - until such time as the constitutional crisis in the country has been resolved.
Amongst the text of this resolution:

- Unlawful armed formations didn't give up their arms, but continued to take over the organs of state power in Kiev, kill innocent people and LEOs
- Central organs are paralyzed
- We decided to take all responsibility for the security and rights of our citizens, as well as the upholding of constitutional order on our territory

Delegates also called for:

- Local police units to co-operate closely with the local regional authorities
- Local military units to remain in place, at their current locations, secure the caches of ammunition & weapons, and not to interfere in any conflicts.
- The people to self-organise in co-ordination with their local law enforcement units

Apparently some pro-Russian deputies are complaining that the conference was all talk, no action. Or something like that.

An interesting thing, towards the end a man shouted to be allowed to have his say (he's the most energetic and loud one, in plain clothes - about 15-20 mins before the end of the video). He was allowed up on stage for a 3 minute speech. Apparently he's some sort of ex-Soviet officer.

- Any day, tanks, armoured vehicles, etc... could enter Kharkov; ordered here by the new government in Kiev - and overthrow the regional government and repress the will of the local people
- There could be fighting, warfare, etc...
- We need to organise military units, companies, battalions and prepare for resistance
- All men among you, all former officers and servicemen of the Soviet army, I congratulate you on your coming holiday (23rd of February, former day of the Soviet army, now it's the day of Fefender of the Fatherland in Russia); and I also call on all of you to assemble in front of the central military commission in Kharkov tomorrow for organisation and instruction.

The U.S. creates missiles bypassing the INF Treaty

An accident of both political and technological importance occured last September - two ballistic missiles were anonimously launched in the eastern Mediteranean.

Due to the rapid deterioration of the situation around Syria, the accident aroused great interest of the international community.

At first, the "heroes of the day" made nothing to identify themselves. UK, USA and France denied any knowledge of the launch. So did Israel. But in a single hour the Israeli officials made a U-turn in their rhetoric.

Polish: Jan Mazepa Kołodyński; March 20, 1639 – October 2, 1709), Cossack Hetman of the Hetmanate inLeft-bank Ukraine, from 1687–1708, the Prince of the Holy Roman Empire 1707-1709.[1] He was famous as a patron of the arts, and also played an important role in the Battle of Poltava where after learning of Peter I's intent to relieve him as acting Hetman of Ukraine and replace him with Alexander Menshikov, he deserted his army and sided with Charles of Sweden. The politicization of this desertion has held a lasting legacy in both Russian and Ukrainian national history.

Όταν οι προδότες γίνονται χαρτονομίσματα- σταβήματα του και ο Stepan Bandera

Because of this, the Russian Orthodox Church has laid an anathema on his name since the beginning of the 18th century and refuses to renounce to this day. Everyone who opposed the Russian government in eighteenth-century Ukraine were derogatorily referred to as Mazepintsy (Mazepists).[2] The alienation of Mazepa from Ukrainian history continued during the Soviet period, but since Ukraine's independence there have been strong moves to rehabilitate Mazepa's image, although he remains a figure of mixed standing.

The last straw in the souring relations with Tsar Peter was his refusal to commit any significant force to defend Ukraine against the Polish King Stanislaus Leszczynski, an ally of Charles XII of Sweden, who threatened to attack the Cossack Hetmanate in 1708.
Peter expected that king Charles of Sweden was going to attack and thought that he could spare no forces. In the opinion of Mazepa, this blatantly violated theTreaty of Pereyaslav, since Russia refused to protect Ukraine's territory and left it to fare on its own. As the Swedish and Polish armies advanced towards Ukraine, Mazepa allied himself with them on October 28, 1708. However, only 3,000 Cossacks followed their Hetman, with rest remaining loyal to the Tsar. Mazepa's call to arms was further weakened by the Orthodox Clergy's allegiance for the Tsar. Learning of Mazepa's treason, the Russian army sacked and razed the Cossack Hetmanate capital of Baturyn, killing most of the defending garrison and many common people. The Russian army was ordered to tie up the dead Cossacks to crosses, and float them down the Dnieper Riverall the way to the Black Sea. This was done for the purpose of intimidating the Mazepa loyalists who lived downstream along the Dnieper.[citation needed]

“f*** the EU” or Fuck U.. Victoria Nuland

Hands off Ukraine Victoria

A senior US diplomat has apologised after having allegedly been caught declaring “f*** the EU” over its position on Ukraine during an apparently bugged telephone conversation...

..."It is no secret that Ambassador Pyatt and Assistant Secretary Nuland have been working with the government of Ukraine, with the opposition, with business and civil society leaders to support their efforts," Ms Psaki continued. "It shouldn't be a surprise that at any points there have been discussions about recent events and offers and what is happening on the ground...

... At one point, the voice that sounds like Mrs Nuland's suggests that the EU's position should be ignored after she reportedly tells Mr Pyatt that Ban Ki-Moon, the UN secretary-general, is going to appoint Robert Serry, the former Dutch ambassador to Kiev as his representative in Ukraine. "That would be great I think to help glue this thing and have the UN glue it and you know, F*** the EU," the voice says.

Tkuarchal - Abkhazia , the day after..

Tkuarchal was a developing industrial town in Soviet Abkhazia. It was the town of miners, workers, engineers. Pipes of its factories produced so much smoke that a man who came outside and walked through the town returned home being all dirty and dusty. But everything became suddenly over. In the best Soviet years the population of the city amounted to 40 thousand people, before the war – over 20 thousand. The war took many citizens of Tkuarchal away, many others simply abandoned the town. In 2008 only 5 thousand people remained there. They could not find jobs and earn a living.
